On Wednesday, Caiti had a doctors appointment in Alexandria, Va which is about 15 minutes from DC so we decided to make the trip to DC on the Metro after Caiti's appointment. It was a very fun and long day!! First it took us forever to figure out where to park for the Metro but we did it. Then we got a complete introduction to the Metro system by a really nice Metro employee. We got our tickets and hopped on the metro. I was a bit nervous but really enjoyed it!! The kids loved it and it was much better than trying to figure out how to drive in DC!!

We started this day at the Metro station then having lunch on the grass and heading over to the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum. After that we walked in the National Mall. Starting near the Capitol Building and making it all the way to the Lincoln Memorial with a stop by the White House!! We walked so far and were so proud of how well the kids did...well Maddie was a bit cranky and lagged behind us the whole day, LOL!! After the Lincoln Memorial Christy used her charm to get us a free ride on a Trolley Tour. The kids were too exhausted to walk all the way back down the Mall plus I was carrying Caiti who was passed out!! We got a quick 8 minute (free) tour and were dropped off at the Arlington station. Got on the Metro and headed home!! My legs felt like jelly by the time the day was over but it was all worth it!! I'm really glad I went with my sister before going with Jay so I could scope things out and plan a day for us to go again!! It was a very memorable trip!!
